Abthof -

A historic building

Located in the winding historic old town of Muehlheim, the Abthof is considered to be the oldest building in the town. It was built in 1450 as a socage-house of monastery Seligenstadt, the former lords of Muehlheim. Originally, the building has been a warehouse in were local farmers and millers had to pay their tax contributions to the monastery. Later on, the building became the administrative seat of the monastery appointed officials. Today the timber framed building is elaborately restored to its original condition and is one of the architectural gems of Muehlheim. Inside the building, the truss continues and separates the room into homely areas to create an atmosphere of well-kept intimacy. The vaulted wine cellar below the guest room is a excellent separee for companies of up to 13 people.

so the statement of Peter Streit and his team from the restaurant Abthof in Muehlheim am Main. Since December 1992 the restaurant is led by chef Peter Streit, who fulfills this task with love and competence. He went through various stations at honorable restaurants in Germany and Switzerland, among them Meier’s Restaurant at Hotel Sonne in Aschaffenburg, restaurant Drei Lilien in Mainz and the hotel Kloster Hirsau in the Black Forest. The predominantly down to earth dishes of the small, but quite sufficient menu, changes weekly. A main focus in the composition of the dishes, is directed to the selection of high-quality basic products, as well as to a gentle and wholesome preparation.
Price and quality are beyond doubt.

The competence of Peter Streit is shown not least in the careful selection of wines. The wine list offers national and international plants. In the tap are selected quality wines that leave nothing to be desired.
